Past: Sam grew up with Sydney. They became friends in middle school when they both began getting picked on for being feminine and having long hair. His best friend was always dragging him into trouble. Sam was always quiet and usually ran from bullies which took his confidence. He started drumming to have an escape from what he delt with at school and home. He met Michael in middle school and he soon started dating the soccer player. By high school his parents threw him out of the house for being gay and feminine, and Michael had taken his life due to the pressures of the community they grew up in. They told him he brought shame to their family and left him on the side of the road. He stayed with Sydney's family who took him in and became his legal guardians.
In the original City Charms line up Sam became an easy target for the lead singer who turned out to be a bully a few months after the band formed. Joey and Sydney tried to intervene but they were all three much younger than the singer. When Davy showed up in LA, Sam tried to dissuade the band's new friend from confronting the singer. One evening, Sam messed up a drumline on a new song while playing live and the singer turned on the drummer. He hit Sam so hard that he was knocked over into the drumkit. That was the last time they played with their singer. And Davy was nearly arrested for climbing the stage and throwing the singer off into the crowd.
Sam lost a lot of confidence even when Davy joined the band. He clung to the guitarist and moved in with him when the older guitarist offered. Sam has healed a lot and regained confidence while living with Davy though he remains on the quiet side for a member of a glam band.
